Well, here we are at the end of another great year. The National Economy has taken its toll on everyone. Those of us with the courage and well utilized resources have persevered. The Arizona Chapter of the Maintenance Superintendent’s Association has served us all well. The biggest sacrifice of the year was not having the Tom Sheetz Memorial Rodeo. We can confidently state that our vendors and members have committed to holding the Rodeo in March of 2010. It will happen! Start planning now! Lenny Hulme with the City of Mesa has once again allowed the AZMSA to hold their Rodeo at Mesa’s Operations’ Center. For that we are truly grateful.
Our retiring chapter President for 2009 had to endure 3 surgeries this year. Even in the face of personal health and accident issues, Louie Pedroza left his mark on Arizona. As he now embarks on a new adventure from the vendor side of the MSA, we wish him well. He is working with West Coast Equipment, a long standing vendor member both here and in California.
He is recovering from the second surgery on his ankle to repair a fracture that didn’t heal well. We wish him well.
As of January 2010, we welcome in Denise Brewer, Superintendent of Tempe streets as our New President. We have already grown to depend on her. We have the makings of a stellar board again this year.
We recently held our Vendor Appreciation Day in Tempe at the Kiwanis Park where 20 vendors, yes that’s right, TWENTY vendors set out their wares for us. We had 90 members and guests participating in addition to the vendors. That’s a success by any definition.
Attached to this newsletter, you will find the 2010 Membership application, the Scholarship application and the proposed calendar for 2010. With all that AZMSA has to offer, stay ahead of the pack by staying with us!
Sincerely,
Lory Warren, AZ Delegate, AZ Treasurer
